Individual Counseling for Relationships in Asheville, NC

Hi, I’m Lisa Knudson.

I am aware of how uncomfortable it can feel to reach out to a therapist when things aren’t going well in your relationship. I know what it is like to suffer silently in an unhealthy relationship. To experience shame and anxiety. To feel alone and burdened by thoughts and feelings that are overwhelming and confusing. To lose sight of what is good in your life while you focus too much on the pain. But it doesn’t have to be that way. You don’t have to go through this alone.

When we feel stuck in our relationship, unsure of which way to turn, and unclear about next steps, it’s important to find someone who will listen without judgment, someone who will not have the need to “fix” you. In truth, you have simply adopted patterns that aren’t providing you with what you really want or need in your relationships and life. These patterns can be changed, and I can help. When we work together, we can begin to examine the thoughts, feelings and beliefs that are essential in creating new relationship realities.

I will do everything I can to make your next steps as easy as possible. We will examine the origins of your relationship issues: where the patterns began, how they have been repeated and what kept you involved. Then, we will begin the process of building up your core strengths. Strengths that you never thought you had or had buried. You will learn Empowerment–to set clear and consistent boundaries with loved ones when in the past you may have felt you didn’t have a voice. I can show you the way.
